New member, new to me vintage '80 cb750c

mwp309
Day before yesterday I took home a 1980 CB750C that's been sitting idle since 2007.  Drained the gas tank, spilled gas on me and the garage floor.  Pulled the tank cause the petcock was leaking more gas on the floor.  I dropped the gas tank on the garage floor, scraping and chippinng the paint and spilling more old gas on the floor and me.  I replaced the gas line and o-ring on the petcock connecting nut.  Drained the old gas from the float bowls, spilling gas on me and the driveway.  Admired the cool Accel coils the PO installed before replacing the gas tank.  Put a gallon of fresh high test in the tank and half pint on my pants and driveway when the funnel fell out of the tank.
Finally, my neighbor came over with his "jump box".  We hooked it up to the dead battery, pulled the choke and OH MY GOD she fired up!  Can't slap the shit eatin' grin off my face!

Thanks everyone, somehow got an avatar to show up, a tiny representation of my bike.  Also got a nice sealed battery for it yesterday, I'll put it on the trickle charger this afternoon and install it tomorrow.  I'll let you all know if I can get it to fire up!

Looks like we are almost in same boat. I have a 1980 CB 750 F.  Havent started mine yet, shoudl be trying this weekend as long as some parts come in.  I drained fuel and oil from mine as well.  Oil looked like shit, but gas actually smelled fairly fresh, but I know that cant be right.  When I bought mine the whole ignition was gone.  Wish me luck!!

Goodluck FastC!  I have some issues with mine too.  I have to be patient and sort things out.  At least I have another bike to ride while I fool with the "vintage bike".
Ok, put a little seafoam in my gas and got it fired up!  Runs like shit while it runs!  Won't stay running, discharged my new battery, so back onto the charger and another gallon of fresh gas tomorrow and  try, try again!  Hoping the seafoam will keep me from having to tear open the carbs.
