New seat? Seat cover?? Duct tape??

micallen
I just bought an 81 CB 750 Custom.  The seat has 3 or 4 signifagant tears in it.  It doesn't affect sitting (no foam chunks missing or anything).  But, of course, it's ugly.  I can't see spending $250-$275 on a new seat.  What does everyone else do?  Let someone re-cover it?  If so, how much is that??  Get a cover from JC Whitney and do it myself?  Get some good black duct tape and live with that for a while???

Most upholstery shops can recover motorcycle seats for under $100.

Call a few out of the Yellow Pages and you'll probably find somebody ready to make a quick $50 to $75.

Yup recover but do it soon. The longer the foam is open, the faster it crumbles AND water gets in and sits on the pan and rusts it out.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
