Newbie coil help!!

74 750 my coil had a spark plug wire broke off my coil does not have the screw type wire. It does have one wire on top and one on bottom along with the two spark plug wires on top. So here is the question I have access to a 80ish coil but it has two wires on bottom and the two spark wires up top is this going to work on my 74 ? Thanks for any help

Even though those coils are considered non-repairable when a wire breaks off , I have seen people push new wires in and epoxy them into place. Worth a shot at least.

Yes I have read a number of posts on doing that but IMO that seams like a bandaid. I hope it don't come down to me having to do that lol. Has NOBODY had a problem with coils that can chime in about this thanks

Nah,not really a bandaid.It's cost a more cost effective option to buying a new coil. As long as the inner core of the wire is making solid connection to the post in the coil the you're good. The epoxy is just to prevent voltage leaks and to retain the wire.


Oh,and i cant help you with running DOHC coils and a SOHC bike. Sorry. From your description your current coil does not sound like a stock coil. What is it exactly?

I don't see why the 80's coil would not work as long as the ohms are the same.  Give it a try. what can it hurt.
