Hi All,
Went to start the bike ('82 CB750SC) on Tuesday and after switching on the ignition..... nothing. The lights were on but dimmed when the starter button was pushed. No neutral or oil lights on the clocks at all.
Weird, I thought. At first I thought it was the solenoid but wiring in another honda part showed this wasn't at fault.
After much thought and putiing back everthing I had taken off (even testing the kill switch) I decided to do the next job which was fitting new front sprocket (18T). It was here I noticed the neutral wire wasn't fixed to well to it's terminal. A bit of crimping had that sorted and the neutral light lit, which meant that it now started. THAT SIMPLE.
If I had pulled the clutch in it would have started as normal, but I guess the 'lights out' made me think it was something more complicated.
Anyway the oil pressure switch had failed at the same time (what a coincidence) so I sought a replacement. David Silver spares had one priced at £21 but I bought the same spec item (intermotor part number 50750) at a local motor factor shop for
£4.19......
I'm happy to announce that everything is working as it should and back on the road.
