Oil in Stator

Andy
All,

I am as green as possible in regards to the CB750 engine.  I have recently inherited a '74 model and a shop manual and I'm ready to get to work putting back together (it's in a few pieces).  Currently the stator cover is off.  When it was removed we discovered oil inside the stator, and we are not certain whether it is supposed to be there or if it is there due to a gasket failure.  Can someone enlighten me?  Is this a dry or a wet stator?

Thanks in advance!
Andy

I found the answer elsewhere, and just in case anyone finds this forum with the same question, it appears it IS in fact normal for the stator to contain oil.  Hope it helps someone sometime. : )

Yes it is common. I have not been on much so I am sorry you had to find the answer elsewhere. Now you should not have a lot of oil, maybe a teaspoon or 2 at most.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Not a problem, I've not had a chance to go back and work on it anyway.  Thanks for the info!
