Oil in the alternator

shoeduzit
Should oil be in the alternator area?  I just picked up a 1975 sohc CB750. I have no spark upon kicking this bike to start and upon further searching found no DC voltage. I have the switches jumped since I have no key at this time.

How much oil are you talking about? A small trickle worth a teaspoon or a lot?
It is common to have a very small amount in there.
I would check the battery though, dead battery and you will get no spark at all.

I am also working on finding the shop manual for your model but the 78 manual will work for some of your bike.

I have a lot of oil in the alternator area and I found a manual online and down loaded it a 1969 thru 1978sohc cb750 manual.

We have the manual here too now. I added it yesterday actually

The manual should tell you which seal it is but that is most likely the issue.

YES, it's oil here, should be.
The alternator cover might be cracked, the 3 screws holding the coil not properly tightened or the cover sealing bad including the screws holding the cover not properly tightened .  The crankshaft has one sealing on the other side, ignition.

I had some small leakage when I have hit the tarmac some. Cover much thinner and small cracks, successfully repaired with "Plastic Padding - Chemical Metal" at the outside of the cover without removing it. Cleaned the surface with gasoline  before attaching the Chemical Metal by leaning the bike at the other side so the oil remained in the engine.
