Paint or powdercoat exhaust?

barelycompetent
Hey all, been awhile since I have been on here, figured I would stop back in and say hi lol.  My question is, I just ordered an exhaust for another project bike, and it comes in raw form, with a stainless muffler.  So I need to paint the raw part, or powdercoat it.  I know that rattle can painting it with Hi temp, or grill paint would be the cheapest way to go, but has anyone powdercoated an exhaust before?  How did it hold up?  There are several powder coaters in my area that are pretty reasonable, but Im curious to how it looks and holds up.  Thanks for any replies!

I have a buddy that has a little home brewed powdercoating setup. He's done exhaust before with good success. The only colors he has for the hi-temp stuff is matte black and matte silver.

He's done two sets of headers in the matte silver for V-8's and they both held up just fine. He did the pipes on my Hackjob bike for me and they look nice, but I've yet to run that engine yet.

I think Im going to price out powder coating just to see, but this exhaust is going to break the bank for awhile, not sure I want to throw a couple hundred more into it lol.

I used black header wrap on my super rusty headers.  They still look good, except for where I spilled oil on them when I changed the oil.  If you go that route, make sure you wrap aluminum foil on your headers before your next oil change.
