Pesky Front brakes (79 750k)

riedling
So.... these brakes are horrible!!! :)

Id entertain doing the dual disc setup, but cant seem to find the writeup.. Lots of references to it though :)  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  All I know so far is that a master cylinder from a mid 70's GL1000 is in order...

Id also like to learn about the rear disc as well, if a writeup exists for that project :)

Thanks in advance, I'll be asking a LOT of questions :)

Have you typed "dual disk" or "dual disc" in the search bar on our forum?  There are a few responses when I tried that.

If that won't get you what you want, go to http://www.google.com and try it there.

Didn't the 79 and up "F" models have dual disks? You'd have to swap the wheels and front end off the "F" onto the "K" but it should all bolt up. The "F" had comstar wheels though, so you'd loose your spokes.

when you say front end... Do you mean triples and everything? IF the forks are the same diameter (35mm?) then i should be able to just swap those, correct?

I dont mind the comstock wheels...

Just the forks will work, don't need the trees.

Write up for my 1977 F2 stk. disc is there but to long, any how ,used lots of parts off a 80 gl1000,some bolts are long cause of chrome covers, Be specific more and I'll try to answer ,some where's they went to 37mm tubes but all hard wear still fits.
IF I were to start again I would get the WHOLE/COMPLETE front end handle bars to tire trees, lines, EVEY THING off that GL1000,this parts guy moved and didn't tell me There's more out there for all.

Finally picking this back up after working on my 400F for a year :)

So what im hearing is that a 1980 GL1100 front end should just bolt into my triples WO adversely affecting the travel or the like.

Obviously I'd also need that master cylinder too.  Any other years other than 1980? all teh references i see whow 37mm not 35 mm, thats why im asking specifically.

35mm is the fork diameter including the part that goes into the trees. I would assume the first years of the gold wing would be the same as the 80. I thought the 79 had 35mm forks, so all cb750 front ends, especially 79-83 should fit. So you are not stuck with just getting a gw front.

Truck
A 900C front would also work, but again 37mm forks.
It's only illegal if you get caught.

Okay had to look for this again http://hondachopper.yuku.com/topic/2755#.VBxjTfkbZfc
It's a list of bikes sorted by the size of the bearings used in the frame neck. So here are all the bikes that could possible interchange with the 79-82 750C/K/F (Upper: 26 x 47 x 15, Lower: 30 x 55 x 17 ). According to this, you could take the entire front end off a GL1100 and bolt it right on to the 750 (triple clamps, forks, wheel and all):

Lower: 30 x 55 x 17
