Petcock filter

DesignBuild
So... I pulled the dents out of my tank finally, used a stud welder and puller (brings an end to my last post).

Got it repainted, put the petcock back on and heard something drop into my tank. After rattling it around upside down for a bit, finally got the filter to fall out of my tank. Filter seems to be ruined holes all through it, I don't know when the last time it was replaced. I put my tank back on the bike and fired it up just to run it for a bit, took it around the parking lot and this thing is wild. Waaay more power than i was getting, almost wrecked again because it want to do like 45mph in 1st by barely touching the throttle. (i was in a small lot by the way, which is why i almost wrecked when this happened)

Refresher: 1982 CB750F (all stock)

Does anyone know where to buy another fuel filter by itself for these, or should i just buy an "in-line" filter? Also, is it normal to have that much increase in power?

That tube is more of a screen than a filter. It keeps the big chunks out though and helps to keep from destroying the petcock.

If the tank is very rusty at all, I'd recommend replacing the screen, and an inline filter. The carbs plug up all too easily.

Yeah i just took it out for a bit and its running more normal now, it was probably just jumpy because I have had the tank off and not run in a while.

But alright, I'll definitively put in an in-line filter, but do you happen to know where i can buy the screen from? I've looked and can only find them in combo with the petcock (which is expensive).

www.servicehonda.com or any dealer should be able to get it. I think they still have stock.

part no. 16952-MA4-771

http://www.servicehonda.com/parts.php?partnumber=16952-MA4-771&getpart=1&getprice=Submit

They have $9 minimum shipping though, but if you need other Honda OEM parts it works out once you beat the minimum.

Also see this site, it's also Service Honda and easy fiche

Most of the time the filters on the on and res.tubes come with the petcock as a ass. It would be cheaper to install a inline filter at the carbs.

i recently pulled my tank and did some cosmetic stuff....an in-line fuel filter is the way to go for sure. They are cheapr enough, and I would also recomend 1/4" ID braided line. Its about $1>19 a foot at any hardware store, and there is no chance of pinching with that tiny area we have to fit it in there. Good luck!
