Powder Coating Exhaust

I plan on wrapping my exhaust in the header wrap from the block to the end of the pipe. Do I need to bother powder coating my exhaust to protect against rust in the long run if it is wrapped?

That's really a great idea. So many people use wrap as a way to be things they don't want to see, but steel rusts pretty bad under all that wrap.
