Carbs 1 & 2 are draining fuel while bike is running..HELP

gmantexan
OK..the carbs have all been cleaned and bike is running. BUT..carb 1 & 2 drain out fuel through drain tube and stop draining when running at high rpm. Is this a sign that garbage is caught in carbs and should be recleaned. Also I have the original breather box with new boots and NO LEAKS. I am using the normal operation spark plugs.

You have crud in the float needles, or the floats are not adjusted right. try tapping on the float bowels with the handle of a screw driver. That sometimes will dislodge anything in the float needles.

It's possible you have sinking floats also.

If they are brass-When you pull them out shake them and see if you can hear anything rattling from inside. If yes, they are leaking and sinking.

If they are plastic there are two types:

Hollow plastic- do the same shake test

Solid plastic-look for cracks that would allow them to absorb fuel and sink.

You could also submerge them and look for bubbles

Just buy four new float valves with seats. Adjust. DONE.

If they are metal tipped buy seat and needle.
If they are rubber tipped just buy the needle.

Otherwise you will have remove the carbs again and again.
