No bronze does not.
I know copper oxidizes green, but bronze does not even when exposed to a caustic agent like lye.

Errr... I'm pretty sure that the reason the glass packing works is because it physically absorbs the sound waves and transfers it into kinetic energy.  The kinetic waves would cancel each other out to some extent, and the rest would be transferred into the motorcycle, but it's so small you won't notice it because the engine  alone generates much more kinetic movement (vibrations etc).

If it was only in-phase/out-of-phase cancellation then you'd have some coordinates in space that were quiet, but if you moved your head a little bit it would be extremely loud (think of dropping two pebbles into still water and watching the ripples interact with eachother, but mapped into 3-d space).

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to put on my pocket protector and go back to my game of dungeons and dragons.
What the ...?!?! You just blew my mind. I dont what you said, but it made sense. Sarge you are right about my steel wool rusting. It was a cheap shot at something that might not work.More of a test that actually panned out,so it stayed in.When it falls out 'glass will go back.I never knew about the bronze steel wool either. Very cool. I can get my hands on a lot of aluminum turnings from a machine shop a buddy works at. It'll be free so I'll may go that route. I just feel that the fiberglass should be quieter than any metal. I dont have any uber-scientific reason why that is,just a thought. Maybe I should consult Prof. Sees' on this one

The usage I had with bronze is as a flashback arrestor. The actual electrolysis was don using Stainless Steel.

Fiberglass might be more sound absorbent because it is more malleable (can be bent more easily).
This is because one other place for the force of the sound waves to go is into destructive kinetic force.

This would be my initial theory, I'd have to dust off some textbooks and break out a slide rule to make sure (kidding on that last point :-) ).

Sound waves are just kinetic pressure waves that move through the air (this is why sound isn't possible in outer space). The particles in the air that are being pushed make up the wave. When they hit something (like fiberglass or aluminum turnings) some force is imparted onto what they hit, and some bounces off (think pool table balls). If the thing that they hit is hard, then most of the energy is transferred through to the other side of the hard object (in this case, through the aluminum turnings, then the muffler, then the bike), and the remaining energy is absorbed destructively by the object or dumped as heat.

I imagine the aluminum would absorb more of the sound energy as destructive kinetic force (which is why the glass ends up flying out), but have a shorter lifespan than if you made the muffler with aluminum turnings (which would last damn near forever, but I wouldn't want to be behind you if it did start to fail).

Ah, newtonian physics logic problems. I haven't done these in a while.

I meant a dissimilar metals sort of problem. You know how when you connect copper pipe to steel you have to use a di-electric union or the copper will cause the steel to corrode. Since bronze has copper in it (I think) i thought it might start corroding your steel exhaust. Just a thought.

I am currently in a comprehensive welding course and oxydation is one of the main topics.
Bronze to steel is what is used in oxyacetelene brazing. Bronze brazing of steel and iron parts is a common practice. Very stong & very compatable.

As a footnote (something I didn't know & not related to the above), We all think of aluminum as rust proof but did you know aluminum begins to oxydize immediately. That's why aluminium alloys are anodized to increase corrosion resistance. A great examples are our forks & engine covers.

All right. What I've gathered so far is that I need a muffler with holes in its circumference, wound around by either Fiber glass wool or steel mesh.

Now the next part, if I want a 4-2 exhaust for my CB-750, what should the minimum diameter and length of muffler be that is not going to restrict exhaust gasses.

If I do replace the mufflers on my Honda, I plan on locating some bronze wool.  Sounds perfect for the job, as long as it absorbs kinetic energy properly.

Tools, I think you mean paradox. :-)

Although a picture of yourself in the mirror isn't a paradox, its simply light reflection. You're just collecting in your camera lens the light reflected off of your body from the very recent past and then reflected again off the mirror.

This reminds me of the twin paradox:
Two twin brother are born on earth, one gets in a spaceship and travels at close to the speed of light to some point out in space and then returns. When he meets his twin brother on earth the twin that stayed is an old man, while the twin who traveled is still young.

This happens because of the nature of space-time and how once you get up to speeds close to the speed of light your experience with time actually starts to be impacted.

Google the twin paradox, special relativity and time-dilation if you're more interested.

I know about the twin paradox (Thanks, for correcting me. I could not think of the right word, for it.) They have also done studies where two clocks that are just alike are set to the same time, and one is put on a plane, and flown around the world. I think going west. When the two clocks are put together again the time is different. The one on the plane has lost a few seconds.
My thing with the pictures is "it goes on to infinity" Before cameras the only thing that went to infinity was time, and then two, or more mirrors. Now mirrors would only do it while reflecting each other, but once, you take a picture of the camera taking a picture of itself, it goes on to infinity, and never stops. Now at some point with all these images of scantly clad teenagers, and wishing 40+ year olds being taken, and posted on flakebook something is bound to happen. Where's Doctor Who when, you need him?
