Raking and dropping front end? help

I want to make a bike like this one. Or at least the style. I know the back frame is chopped, but what about the front? Does it need to be raked and the forks lowered? Both? see pic below

Welcome to the forum. Both of those bikes have TC brothers hard tail sections on them. The forks are slid up in the triple trees to lower the front ends. There is not any rake added to the frames. When, you add rake, you decrease the fork angle. these are stock.

So the fork tubes will just slide up? No other mods are needed?

Haha yeah almost toooooo easy. Especially considering what I have to do to convert to hard tail. But, onward and upward! Thanx

A hard tail is easy with the hard tail sections. just cut the frame where the instructions say. Then slide in the slugs, and the hard tail section. Then weld. Pretty easy. I am going to do one here soon myself, but I am going to use one from Cycle One.

how can you tell they are TC hardtails?

A TC Brothers hard tail is, so easy to spot. The one on the left looks home made from their kit, but the one on the right is definitely on of theirs. You can tell, by the way they attach to the two tubes between the seat, and tank. Then they have that bend going down. I myself prefer the Cycle one hard tail. It does away with those two tubes, and makes a straight line from the steering head to the rear axle.

What are the "slugs" you are referring to when attaching the rear frame?

They are pieces of tubing that slide into the frame tubing. Kind of like an internal splint. They not only line up the two pieces, but also reinforce them.
