Rattle can clear coat?

So I stripped the paint off the tank down to bare metal. I like this look, but obviously staying on top of the rust is very annoying. I tried coating the tank with Penetrol, but this isn't getting the job done. I am thinking it actually needs a real clear coat on it to keep the rust away. Anyone know a good rattle can clear coat??

clear coat isn't designed to prevent rust.  That is what primer is for.  Any moisture in the air that you trap will start the rusting process under the clear coat.  There was a tread about this a few weks ago, might look it up and get some alternatives.  I do know there are powdercaots you can get that have the bare metal look with out the up keep.  Sorry to drop bad news on you, but I hope it helps.
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid
