Book says every 300 miles. I keep my oiler open just a little on my 73. Messy but saves the chain. I clean when I adjust it.

Oilers are awesome really. A scottoiler works awesome.

I don't have one but have heard good things about them.

Me, I rarely need to adjust my chain but I use an o-ring chain. I lube it every few hundred miles and clean it once a summer or so. In short, I give little attention to my chain!

It has held up very well though.

  Sounds like something I need to oook into,
  just adjusted my chain again and is good ,also oiled ,
  Don't park this bike in the house so a lil mess looks like it's being ridden

Yeah,I definitely had a junk chain. No clue what the tensile strength was on my old chain,but my new 9,700lb chain is much bigger.
