Rear shock absorbers

Peterwh
I just got a set of replacement shock absorbers from CB750.com.  Two questions:

1.  The top mount is narrower than on the old shocks.  Do I need to pack them out somehow?

2.  They came with rubber bushes that go in the top mount.  I can get the bushes into the top hole in the shock absorber and I can get the bushes onto the top mount on the frame but I cannot get the bush onto the top mount when it's inside the hole in the shock absorber and, conversely, I cannot get the shock absorber onto the top frame mount with the bush on the frame mount.  Do I just need to apply some brute force and ignorance or am I missing something?

Any experience anyone can offer on either of these points will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem, but some silicone spray, and a little persuasion cured the problem. As, for the space, I did not worry about it on the Toolmatic, but, you could shim it with some washers.
