Reserve tank not so reserved

jamman18
Soooo.....I've been curious as to how many miles my cb750 can get out of a tank of gas so I figure as long as I have the reserve tank, I'll run it.  Got to 170miles and it sarts sputtering so I switch to reserve....no change!  Put a gallon in and it ran fine!  Why did the reserve not function?  Any clues?

Either, you already had it on reserve (I have seen this happen, so many times,) or your petcock needs rebuilt. Kit's are available at vintagecb750.com

Yeah, I switched to the reserve "down" position and it seemed to make no difference.  After I fueld up it took a few miles to get the air out of the line!

The Toolmatic only gets 35, but it is high performance, and ridden hard.

err... Down is on. Up is reserve. Forward is off. It sounds like you were running on reserve the entire time.
