I thought you were wanting the one for the steering stem bearings. Sorry I sold my rear comstar to Shiny. However I did come across two Vetter fairings the other day. Want one?

Howdy, I had the local machine shop make mine. I wanted one that has replaceable pins (roll or spring pins). I also had them make the center hole the same size as the axle. It allows me to use the wheel bearings as a support for the tool (for sprocket carrier). Insert axle through tool & wheel bearings. This way the tool won't cock to the side & egg out the pin holes in the retainer. Also you may want to jsut hit the detent spots with a drill bit so the retainer will come out easier (aluminium is squished). Make sure to install new seal before assembly & the right way.

THX My cheap azz will pay the 4 bucks.
It's back & were on the road,The seal ,really don't make scents with new all balls bearing ,seems to just be a spacer and saved my busted stuff from backing out completely ,the new are sealed no way anything can get in there ,does cause the retainer to set out 1&1/2 threads due to thickness of the seal not setting in around bearings(old lose type would set flush.I THINK).

I am concerned that you may have the wrong bearing retainer. It should be flush when bottomed out. I don't see any reason you can't reuse the old seal. You will get a lot of road dirt in if you leave the seal out. You don't want to have a wheel bearing fail while moving. Not a good time at all. The reason the retainer needs to be flush is it needs to be staked in 4 places to insure it doesn't back out while riding. Take a center punch & make 4 punches 90 degrees apart. I suggest inbetween the 4 factory punches. This needs to be removable at a later date so I wouldn't use lock tite here. In a pinch you could shave the retainer you have so is flush when threaded in. Take .040" (approx.) of bottom of retainer. measure it to get the exact amount of metal to remove.
