Rim size question

shultz_1978
Howdy all

As I am think about a new bike a question comes to mind. I have heard that smaller front rim change the handling of a bike greatly. If it is like car tires and wheels. That means that the smaller fatter tire on the front like the back would be more prone to fallow and grab cracks in the road. Right?

I want to get that  front and back wheels are the same look. Should I lace a back 16" x 3" rim on a front hub or see if I can find larger back rim and front to match it? 17" to 18"

I know my front rim is 19" right?

Will a 16" tire have a taller side wall that will pit up the difference?

I really like the looks of the front and back wheel and tire looking the same size. Any input will be good to know.

As always Thanks and enjoy reading the posts and helping if I can.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

By using spoke rims you can match up just about anything,I like the lowered 16 inch myself ,BUT as mentioned those that race bikes (reason lot are so high)taller tire stance gives more /better ground clearance,in 1965 the 900 sporty)they also had the shifter on the "wrong side just because was used in circle track racing and had to be stock bike. 16s with some bigg meat's (ya have to check chart for your type of height on those.)would look mean.

I have a 19" wheel on the front of my 73 with a 100\90x19 tire.  On the back I have a 17" wheel with a 110\90x17 tire.  It turns around on a dime and goes around corners so quick I don't even have to think about it.  Very confidence inspiring.  My next tire on the rear will be a 120 to slow the steering a little and give it more stability a speed.
