Small batteries vs big batteries?

slownugly007
I was looking into buying a new battery for my bike and wanted to get something that was smaller than OEM so that in the future I can remount it in a different location. Ive found a bunch of different sized ones but not sure if Im able to use them?

I plan to ride my bike a lot and was curious if the smaller batteries will work for this? Right now I have a 14AH sized battery and would like to go done to the smaller one but not sure what performance I will lose, if any from the smaller batteries? Anyone know?

The 14 is stock size. A smaller batt can be used no problem but will have less capacity.
Now, as long as your charging is working ok and you keep the rpms over 2k to send a charge the battery, you should be fine.
You big issue will be if you are idling for a time. The bike does not charge much under 2k rpm.
An electronic r/r will help a little.

You COULD do a lithium based battery BUT I strongly suggest getting an electronic r/r to use with it as the stock one could easily cause overvoltage and spikes to hit the battery and lithium doesn't much like that.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I was kinda curious about this myself. I need to make a mount for a battery and was wondering what smaller sized batteries are a standard size. I'd hate to build a compartment for a battery, only to have to replace it later and not be able to find another the same size.
