I just got my plates and and was gonna install the clutch. Is it OK to pour oil over the clutch assy after getting it all together,or do you really need to soak them? And for how long?

Soak them, for a couple hours.

You really need to soak them like the directions
tell you or they can get damaged.

They used to be put in dry, but they did not get covered with
oil evenly for a long time and it caused clutch chattering.

Some sides of some plates were still dry.

New question. Disregard the soaking for now. Ill explain later. Put the clutch back in it wont disengage.  Very hard to shift gears and I'm almost out of adjustment at the set screw. I even removed the washer for more adjustment.  What's up?

OK. I see the problem. But don't know how to cure it. The clutch hub is going in too far and dragging on the tranny input shaft. I don't recall having a thrust washer. Why is it going too far? Guess I'm not racing the bike tomorrow after all :(. Oh yeah, I am reusing my original clutch but I replaced the faulty outer cork with a Barnett.  Ebc springs

Crap. Karma bit my a$$ tonight. I was all stoked to get my bike back together and decided to work on it tonight rather than take Crys out,as I promised I would.  The clutch problem is I left out a spacing washer, the NEW problem is I have no idea where that piece is. I know Crys is at home sticking pins in her CB750 voo-doo doll just to cause me problems...
