Spark Advancer Springs

CB70
Anyone know where or how to get new springs for the spark advancer without having to buy an entire unit? One solution is to cut one of the loop but I would rather get new ones before having to resort to doing that. Are there other springs you can buy that are similar that would work? Thanks

Yeah, trimming them won't work too well. They'll end up real stiff and your timing curve/ engine performance will be lazy.

If you keep an eye on eBay you can find some for pretty cheap sometimes. I picked up an entire unit for $25 shipped. If you're in a bind I have a pair of springs. I guess a hook broke off one of yours?

Hey Shiny I appreciate the offer. My springs still works but I think they might be worn from what I've read. I've just replaced my points with the Pamco electronic ignition. I timed it with a timing light and can't get it to reach the advanced mark with it at 2600 rpm. That's with me timing at 1,200 rpm lining up the F mark.
When I time it to the advance timing mark, at idle the F does not line up. It falls short, it's not even in between the 2 markings. I was think of just splitting the difference if I can't get it right.

Valves been adjusted, think timing chain is good, coils are good

I considered buying one of the spark advancers on ebay but those are used too, who knows if those are any good. I'm going to cut my springs and see how that works and if it doesn't I may take you up on your offer. Just let me know how much you want for them. I'm in the process of changing the oil & oil filter (oil filter bolt is stuck and now stripped, need to deal with that), plugs & plug wires. Once it's up and running I'll see if I'm still having issues with the timing mark. Thanks for the replying.

There is no "advance mark" You time it to the "F" and that is it, period. Besides as Shiny stated, shortening you your springs would bring in total advance a lot later, or not at all.

I was thinking that there is static time and advance timing marks.

I was think DOHC,too. So my bad on that since those are the springs I have. There's a good chance I have SOHC springs, too. I'd have to look.
