Tank Drain

bloodshed
I have a 79 CB 750f and I am trying to flush the tank but when I pull the petcock out the tank won't fully drain. It appears that there is a plastic sleve inside the petcock opening. Does that need to come out and if so, how?

Thanks
MWB

thats a filter screen and it should remove fairly easy. but sometimes due to age it will get a little stuck. i used spray carb cleaner  and let it sit and mine dropped right out, you might need to use a screw driver or something to wiggle it. but i would keep it out and run an inline filter.

very welcome hope all goes according to plan lol. i dont know where you are from but PEPBOYS has a great inline filter with cleanable element for about 10 bucks, and the filter has interchangable inlet and outlet barbs to suit your specific fuel line diameter.

I used a little elbow grease and a screwdriver and out she came! Looks like about time too. I was suprised not to find an inline filter on this bike. Thanks for the info I will definately be putting one on now. Do you have any pics of your bike? I am always interested in seeing what other people have done with their CB's.

sure thing. mine is a 79' 750f i put 82' 900 carbs on her. full kerker 4-1 exhaust "sounds great". 82' front sport fender, custom paint i did myself in my garage.updated mirrors and im about to flushmount the brake light and put led blinkers in to keep as uch strain off the stator as i can.

i bought her for $300 in very bad shape, gas tank was shot, stock carbs a complete mess stock exhaust rotted to hell, tires dry rotted and the guy i bought it from didnt even know if it ran lol.

here is how she turned out.

Nicely done. Was the carb conversion easy or was there some modding to do?

direct bolt on. just has slightly larger jets to accomodate the full kerker exhaust
