There are some differences between the "A" and 77-78 "K" tanks, but they will interchange. However they are the same size/shape, so that will not get you anywhere. Unfortunately the way the two tubes that go over the top of the engine are curved up on the "A" it will make it hard to install a different tank. The best possible option would be a tank off a 79-83 DOHC model as the two tubes were curved similar to the tubes on the "A" model. Your other options would be to do a lot of modification to the underside of a tank, or remove the two tubes that go over the engine. I hope this clears the confusion up.
