Tires

jbrightwell
I called the local Honda dealer asking about tires.  Metzler 880s were recommended.  Well over $400 for both front and rear with tubes and rim strips.  The tubes alone were over $40.  This was if I removed the wheels and brought them in.  Obviously I am checking other sources...

I just ordered a Bridgestone rear from Rocky Mountain Motorsports, or something like that.
a 130/90/18 Spitfire.
I saw prices of 180 to 112, I thought BikeBandit was the best deal, but shipping put it over 125.
With free shipping, 102, Rocky Mountain was the best deal I saw out there, and it's in the mail
with just a creditcard.

About the Metzlers.

You don't have to go with them, that's just another guys choice.
They're a good tire, but nothing special imo.
You'd prob never tell the difference between them and a set of chen shins or shinkos.

If I'm not mistaken, your bike came from the factory with either Bridgrestones or Dunlops.

There are better tires, for much less money, available.  For reviews by riders, I go here:  link.  I ride on Pirelli MT66 Route tires, had them on three different bikes, only thing I will ride on.  They run around $80/$120 for front/rear.  Others on this site run on Shinko's.  Check out some reviews, search on prices, and make an informed decision as to what you feel will work best/safest for you.  Cheers!

Re: Tires

I may just get lucky (as far as tires go anyway).  Found out that a nephew of my wife used to run a tire store.  He farms now but kept his dealer license and can buy tires wholesale.  So he is checking to see what he can get for me.  The Honda dealer said he had some trouble finding the right sizes for my bike as far as the book goes.  He did find the Metzlers 3.25-19 and 4.25-17.  Do these sizes sound right?  Thanks all...
