Never encountered this one ! It's not the main fuse, key switch or battery. Just happened one day...it stopped. Immediately pulled off the sidecover and checked fuse and other connections. Found a slightly loose red wire to the starter relay, tightened it and got panel lights for one brief moment. No Go !! Triple AAA'd my embarrassed self home and tried to fix. NO GO !!! Can the 15 amp fuse look good but not BE GOOD ?? Goin a little nuts on this one. 1973 CB750 it is; one of two I own. Where's the Japanese "Scotty" when you need him ?

Yes! That fuse can look good, and be bad. Check it with an Ohm Meter, or use a test light. Make sure there is voltage on the terminals, and the wire connections on the back. Not just the fuse.

Okay, pulled fuse block and left side harness plugs and cleaned thoroughly. Installed new 15a fuse. No Go ! Bear in mind this is a very minty low mileage 73 K3. Looking at my Clymer manual it mentions the primary resistor in one diagram. Thinking about truckin this thing to the shop and hollerin "Uncle". Any other ideas ??

Praise The Lord and pass me an extra can of 7.62. Got around to wigglin the red harness connects and ..BINGO !!! Lights on. Don't know if it was the cleanin ( or maybe forgettin to plug the switch back in..ya think?) Nevertheless, back in business. Will now see if wigglin some more will cause failure. If not..its a good day in what remains of Our Exceptional Republic ! God Bless Soichiro Honda as well !!!

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I have just experienced exactly the same issue as you. Working fine, rode to my girlfriend's place all good. Next morning nothing....absolutely nothing. No panel lights, no nothing. Checked all fuses. Cleaned and checked starter switch. Checked battery. She lives at the top of a hill and it wouldn't bump start.
I googled "Complete Electrical Failure Honda CB750" and your post came up. I joined this group which seems to have a great amount of information.
Love the colloquial approach on your post, but could you kindly provide more clarity around "wiggling the little red wire" you speak of, or is this a euphemism for something else?
Thanking you in advance.

It turned out to be a bad fuse block. I got a new unit from Honda and no problems since. The red wire I was moving also moved the fuse block.

Thanks for that. I'll start checking the fuse box connections..... famous last words I'm sure. Last time I said that it started a 4 year rebuild of an old Holden HR (classic local Australian car). Cheers Pete

Buy yourself an inexpensive Digital Volt Meter (in the USA, from $10 - $100+, but the $10 units are usually sufficient for this type of work). Secondly, get a copy of this book, from your local library, or a bookstore, like Amazon.com: Motorcycle Electrical Systems: Troubleshooting and Repair (Motorbooks Workshop). The author is quite good, and very thorough; he covers pretty much everything electrical in a bike. Cheers!
