I'm just in a mood today. I went to this really cool place, for lunch today, and ordered a beer with my cheese steak. When the waitress brought it, it was a plastic 8 oz glass of weak, and warm draft "Bud Lite" that they charged me $3.50 for. Took me to a level of "P" D off that I had not been since I paid $6.00, for a beer. However that was at a Loverboy concert, and was very necessary.

Mark,
Just read this... Is it your brakes that squeak when you apply them? If that's what's going on, have you tried filing the edges of the pad? Just round them a little bit, and that might take care of the squeak. Did for me once. Could be worth a try.

Also, I need a rebuildable front caliper just in case mine is bad. (no matter how I adjust it, it will not quit squeaking....I've read this "could" possibly be due to pad contamination, so I have another set of pads on the way to try that out first)

I didn't forget about you,Mark.I finally got the piston out about 45 minutes ago. Tried to get the best pics I could, but the flash was doing funky things. The piston is in pretty decent shape. The two spots in the pic are the only ones on the piston. There are a few very small blemishes, but there are barely the size of a flake of pepper. The brake line and the brake bleeder came out OK and those threads are fine. The inside bore of the caliper is a bit dirty, but there doesn't seem to be any corrosion/erosion inside.

I mentioned that I had a rebuild kit for this caliper. I don't. This caliper has a much smaller piston then my 76F,so the kit I have is wrong for this caliper.

Pics!

What state do you live in???

I will have my frame up for sale soon.
I am taking apart my Cafe bike and building a raked out bobber.
My frame was stripped sandblasted ,phosphate dipped, and then
powder coated gold. It is a 1978. I would like $600.

Mark,I just have that one rotor I posted earlier. The second rotor I thought I had ended up being a rear disc for a spoke wheel.  So,I have that caliper setup posted above and the one rotor. I have been working with the caliper mounting arm. It is quite tight. Not frozen, just quite tight. Just wanted to let you know.

I'm in FL, looking for a rough but not rusted '70-'74 frame for under $300. I plan on welding in the Gordon frame kit, as well as cutting off any extra tabs and the rear foot peg portion of the frame, so paying for a nicer, clean frame would not be a wise choice for me. Thanks for the offer though, that gold frame of yours is nice! It's the same one from your build thread, right?

So what do you want for the rotor, and what's tight on the caliper...the piston or the mounting pivot? This is for my cafe project so if it's the piston it won't matter as I plan on rebuilding it so it's like new.

I adjusted the pads and the squeak is gone. :) It took a few tries to find the right setting , as was suggested by members here.

Mark, the piston is nearly flawless. I would not hesitate to reuse it at all. It is the mounting pivot that is tight.$50+sh. For everything?

Yes it is the same frame as the photos online.

You should be able to find a frame close to your area.
There are many available just check for excessive corrosion.
Then treat the corrosion, and paint or powder coat.

Please post pics of your build!

Thank you sir! I wasnt expecting you to pay so fast,I wont have a chance to get your parts til Saturday am most likely. I imagine you will be storing these parts for a while,so i'll smear a little grease on the piston and pop it in a plastic baggie if its cool with you. I'd hate to see it corrode any.

Re: Two more parts wanted...

Thanks, I would have done that myself, but you save me some time. :)

p.s. When I say I am ready to buy, I mean I am ready to buy. No sense stringing someone along for months. If I want something and it falls within my budget for the part, I buy it....and NOW. :)

I saw some steel cabinets on CL for less than the price of steel shelving, so I am going to pick up two to store the goodies until the build. I lost BOTH my days off this week and next, So I won't get much done in the way of setting up my "den" as a garage these next few weeks. I gotta start soon, though I will admit, having the bike in the living room next to the couch is kinda cool.
