Wanting to lower the rear of my bike

rij1
I wanna lower the rear of my bike. I heard of lowering shackles or lowering brackets. Does anyone know where to get any? Or is there any other way to lower besides changing the shocks..

Well, shocks are the most common way to lower. You could do short struts but that turns it into a hardtail.
These are bolt on changes and take minutes to do and are the easiest.

You could get more in-depth depending on what you are going for. There was a thing called "konging" that was done to the sohc that you might be able to modify to fit your bikie. It involves cutting and welding and such, but it allows you to keep your normal frame geometry while lowering the seat. This is kind of a crappy description but you get the idea. http://konga750.blogspot.com/2008/08/konging-frame.html

Cyclex does sell a drop frame, but it is probably more expensive than you are looking for. My guess is you want it fairly cheap, in which case, the shocks are the best way to go. Shorty shocks are about $80.

You have to tell us what kind of motorcycle at least.

All CB750 Sohc bikes have two rear shocks on the rear swing arm.
So all you have to do is change to shorter shocks than the stock rear shocks.
The "shorty" shocks from Cycle exchange will work perfectly.

You cannot put shocks on that are too short or the rear tire will hit the
inside of the rear fender and stop the rear wheel. then the bike could crash,

How do the shorty shocks feel compared to the stock shocks.

I just measured my shocks and their 15" from bolt to bolt (I thought stock was 14 3/8) and the tire clearance to the inner fender is about 6".
If I got the shorty shock (11.4") they would be too short right? There are also 13.2" shocks..
Also, Is my shock a progressive shock/spring?

Those look like Emgo progressive spring replacement shocks. Why not try some stock 13 5/8" shocks.
