Tried those, along with dozens of other sub$50 sets….sound quality isn't even close. :)
Under $50….Decent, but they all have in common_ bass lacks punch, highs sound "tinny", mid range slightly "muddy" and not well defined.
EarPollution Plugz $8
EarPollution Evolution $18
EarPollution Timbre $27
Klipsch Image S4 $46
Sennheiser CX 300-II $24
Sennheiser CX 400-II $29
Sennheiser OCX-880 $45
Sony MDR EX38IP $25
Altec Lansing MZX606 $34
$50-$100…traits in common- better bass response, mids well defined but still not defined, highs very good.
Shure E2C $99
Shure SE215 $97
Beyerdynamic Mmx 101 1E $86
They finally settled on these models, all of which had good bass, mids AND highs. Very high quality sound, but out of my budget….
Shure SE425 $299
Shure SE315 $199
Denon AH-C751 $199
Yamaha EPH-100 $150
Even at this level, they still do not compare to studio headphones, and certainly not studio monitors, but at least they are highly portable.
I've got a lot of friends in the music biz, about a dozen in bands, two that run sound systems in clubs, and one professional sound engineer who makes his living cutting bands music for release. All of them let me try out their failed products they bought while searching for a good as you can get for under $200 earbud they wanted to use with their MP3 players. I guess I'm kinda spoiled on good sound. :)
Don't even throw away your money on anything by Coby, or Skullcandy.
