When I'm riding, I make sure that there's eye contact between me and cagers, especially at intersections. I've waited for a few minutes while the person with the right of way (who's usually yakking on their cellphone or something) makes their move.

To that end, I run with a clear visor, so they can see my eyes. Better safe than sorry.  Besides, I'm too old to consider myself a badass.  Come to think of it, my bike is pretty old as well. Maybe if we pool our resources, we could be a collective badass.  Maybe...

The flip-down shades are an interesting concept. However, I steered clear of that model mainly because the mechanism interfered with where I wanted to mount my camera. Also, in case anyone cares, the models with the retractable shades are not snell approved, so you couldn't use them on track days (if you're interested in that sort of thing)

Halfcaf, how does that reflective visor do at night?
I really like the visor! In the sumer I constantly wear sunglasses, so switching to a clear lens when I ride is brutal (I've never been able to wear shades inside my helmet)
Another thing I like about it is the fact that its not too dark. I work evenings, so it's always nice and sunny when I come in and then dark on the way home. I don't even notice the fact that my visor isn't clear.
I also have a tinted visor with my old HJC and I never ended up using it because I thought it was too dark at night and it was just too much of a pain to always be swapping back and forth. Now I have a clear visor for the Scorpion and I never throw it on... I realize I'm writing a paragraph, but for someone like Shiny who lives out in the mountains I imagine it can get really dark -maybe then you would want a clear visor. For someone who rides in the city, pitch black is almost a foreign concept.

Hmm, I always do this and never even think about the fact that I have a mirrored visor.
Maybe they acknowledge the fact that this faceless terror has it menacing gaze firmly affixed on them and become too terrified to move, letting me go ahead
And if eye contact doesn't convey the message, depending on the scenario, a head bob or engine rev both work well.

Well the sun is WAY too bright down here in FL to drive in the daytime without some kind of tint. I'd go "snow-blind" from the brightness and glare! lol

Lots of good points guys. Half, you right about the retractable shade helmets not being Snell approved. That part of my helmet actually bugs me. And yes it does get dark out here with no street lights or building to light things up. But we have really nice lightning bug displays And the occasional drunk trying to get away with burning truck tires at night. That really lights up the sky! You can hide that black smoke, but you just can't hide that smell
