When do YOU start riding again?

seestheday
I thought it would be interesting to hear when people are planning on getting back on the road after winter is over, given how many of us are from different countries/parts of the country.

I will be back out as soon as the snow is gone and it's safe to ride again, which will probably be around the end of March/beginning of April up here in Ontario.

In central Ohio, it usually starts getting warmer in late March, but we still get some snow in April.  Last frost is usually early May. I intend to start riding mid April, if Mother Nature cooperates.

probably April.  Who knows with this goofy weather.  (Michigan)
Need a couple days of rain when it gets warm enough to wash the salt off the roads.

About the same here:  sometime end of March, or whenever the roads are not too sandy, in April.  It depends on temp's:  we won't ride in anything below 55 F, as the windchill at 55-65 MPH, in that air temperature, is quite harsh (99% of our riding is highway...).  No heated clothing, so we're dependent upon insulating layers, which only go so far.

Here is an interesting site with a wind chill calculator:

http://ridemyown.com/windchill.shtml

According to this, our wind chill with an air temperature of 55 F, riding at 65 MPH, would be 33 F old school, and 46 F with the new math.

I'm old school -- it feels more like 33 F, than it does 46 F...  Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!  Cheers!

As soon as the paint drys,
Usually i ride so long as there is no ice out ,Salt washes off , my big worry is them dang sand piles that build up on the inside and out side of curves,I always stay toward the center and slow way down to at least the speed limit  EVERY-ONE be safe and ride to only your capability's nobody else's...

I am very jealous. I spent 10 days a couple years ago with my uncle who lives in Fort Collins, CO. We camped in Buena Vista with a beautiful view of Collegiate Peaks. This pic is the view I had coming out of my tent every morning. Gold panning, exploring mines and getting drunk off 4 beers at altitude.... best week of my life.

As soon as the season is over and the tourists who can't drive their big white four door buicks go back to their summer homes up north. Then the roads will be safe again. LOL

I never realized you were in VA,too. Yeah, its not too bad down here.If you ride in the teens and the humidity is up,say above 60-70 %,with no windshield, and no heated clothes/gloves,you little piggies get right cold. But it's still doable.I'm 30 miles from my closest grocery store, auto parts store...basically anything but a gas station. The fuel savings are just too good to pass up.Note:riding 40 miles with a car battery in a back pack gets HEAVY.Not recommended.
