I know this has discussed numerous times but still need help. I've read all of the threads and have the diagrams and still have some questions. I want to eliminate the stock bar switches and change them to buttons and toggle switches. I just want starter button, horn, signal (on-off-on toggle), hi -lo (on-off-on toggle). There are some wires that I'm not sure what to do with or where it needs to go. I'm wiring off from an original existing wiring harness. Thank you
1.Turn signal switch- The three prongs (1-middle-3) 1 Orange (low), 3 Lt Blue (hi)
Question- What wires goes to the middle?
Where does the Grey (turn signal relay) go?
2. I'm not using any instrument lights, Clutch Light, or Front Blinkers. Do I still need to hook these existing wires, if so where?
- Brown/Wht
- Orange, Wht
- Lt Br/ Wht
- Clutch Light- G/r
Gr
3. Stater Button- (2 prongs) 1 Yellow/Red, 2-?
Question: What color wire to I connect to prong #2?
4. Eliminating on/off kill switch, where or what I do with the remaining wires?
- Blk/Red
- Blue/ Wht
- Blk
- Blk/ Wht

Just numbering the terminals does not give us any idea of what you are talking about. However just off the top of my head here are a few wire colors.
Red/Yellow=Hot to switch
Black=Hot from switch
Black/White=Switch to coils
Orange=Left turn
Lt Blue= Right turn
White=Low beam
Dark Blue=High beam
Brown=Taillight
Green=Ground
The Lt blue, and Orange wires with the white stripes will not be needed for you application, so do not worry about them. Also notice that the horn is HOT all the time, and the button just completes the circuit to ground. Here is a simplified wiring diagram for the SOHC models.

Just off the top of my head I can't think of a way to wire the turn signals thru a toggle switch like you describe ( single pole,double throw- SPDT) , an on-off-on switch. When you get a chance disassemble the stock turn signal switch and look at the innards. There's more there than you would expect. But I could be wrong. I was wrong once or twice before...maybe more.

Thanks for the replies, number are just relating to the prongs (2 prongs I just called #1 and #2 prong). Anyways, horn is working, blinkers working with the toggle switch ( 3 prongs hook the Orange to one side, light blue to the other and grey in the middle)
If I don't want a kill switch do I connect the blk/w wire to the Blk wire?

You could use a three position toggle switch. Run the hot from the flasher unit to the switch, then run from the two switched terminals to each set of turn signals.

Yes that would work, but you really should have a kill switch just in case of an emergency.

What was cause the fuse for "front position, meter light, tail" fuse to blow. I haven't gotten to the kill & start button so those are still unhooked (they're not touching each other)

A dead short, or a loose connection are the only things that will blow a fuse. Take a test light, and jump across the fuse terminals with it, and if the light comes on, you will know you have a dead short. Then start moving, and disconnecting things until the light goes out. Then you have found your short.

If I remove that one fuse (first pos., meter light, tail) that keeps blowing out, everything else seems to be working. Since I don't have the control unit and more, starter & kill is on switches can this be the reason? Doesn't that control unit uses the ground from the handlebars? If so what do I have to ground,, a wire? What color? If I unplug the wiring harness from the right side (starter & kill) it won't blow. Thanks Tools

You have a SHORT in that section of the wiring harness. When you unplug it, you are disconnecting the shorted wiring.

You need to break this problem down into bite size chunks.
Just do ONE thing at a time.
For instance start with the start button.
Then the lights switch.
ETC.,.

Thanks Lucky I found it, it's was a short in the brake light. Everything is working and the bike fired up. I hooked up the old right hand control temporally just to make sure everything is working but still want to elimate that. Kill switch, what do I do with the blk/wht and blk wire? Start button, with the new one has two prongs. I hook the yellow/red to one of the prongs but what wire or wires do I hook to the other one? There's the blu/wht, blk/red, and blk.

Are you talking about the solenoid, or the button to crank the engine?

Not sure what you mean Tools. So I've taken the control apart and this is what I came up with. I'm going to connect the blk & blk/wht (eliminating kill switch but will take Tools' advice and install one once I get a switch) wires together along with the blu/wht and blk/red wires from the start button. The yel/red wire will go to one of the prong on the new start button and on the other prong connect a wire which will grounded to the frame. Hope this make sense and work.
Not completely finished yet but this how it looks. Moved the hi lo switch to the headlight bucket. I used the on-off-on toggle so now I can turn the headlight off to save some juice. Mainly when starting the bike or when needed but will always ride with lights on.

Tools, I read in another thread regarding fuse box. As you can see I got rid of the fuse box that was on top of the handle bar clips (82 Honda CB750). I need to relocate it somewhere else. There are a total of 4 fuses, I might switch to blades. No matter what I decide to go with, if I decide to change the fuse block I'll need a four circuit block because I have 4 fuses?
