Wont start =/

JayMetalMayhem
Hey everybody just found this forum and recently bought a 92' cb750. Unfortuantely which ill admit while out on my first ride in 8yrs i dumped since my speedometer broke and couldnt tell how fast i was goung into a turn (im fine was wearing armor and helmet barely scuffed my knee). However after i picked the bike up it would not start. There are no visible scrapes or dents to any part of the bike except the crash bar and the gas tank. I tried repeatedly to start until the battery started to die and i saw a very small amount of smoke come from the start. Immiedetly stoped trying to restart it then and there. The next day i recharged the battery and pulled the starter from the block and tested it by pressing the starter button and it spins something fierce consitantly. I stuck my finger where the starter sits and turned the gear (only moved in one direction toward the rear of the bike) which i belive engages or is apart of the starter clutch. At this point im at a loss for ideals. I did dump the carbs and got a soapy film/gas discharge.  I was looking for some suggestions at where to go from here. I am a D.I.Y.er  however when it come to bikes its a bew thing for me. Please help.

First check for spark by pulling a plug, hooking the wire back onto it, and then ground the threaded part of the plug to the engine, and then crank the engine. Watch for spark. If it does not have spark, it is an ignition problem. If it does, then you will need to check for a fuel/carb problem.
