Working on seat idea

Lucky 1
This post was updated on .
I made a shape from wood today for a seat base.
I will add 3.5 inches of foam.

I want it to sort of like this.

The top of the seat needs to be 20 inches above the foot pegs so that I am very comfortable.
Mock up base wood.

Butcherblock
Thats gonna look great Lucky! I even think the wood alone looks cool, might be an interesting idea to fully carve a seat (mounted like yours with the springs under it) out of a single piece of cherry or other nice wood. Wouldent be a touring bike, but would look flash around town!

I'm with Butcher,a bare wooden seat would look killer! But I'm not sure if it would be comfy enough with just the springs. Either way I think it's a cool idea. I'm anxious to see how this all turns out!

Hoosier Daddy
I know it is a little late, but I have a seat off a 2010 H.D. Nightster that has a shape you may be interested in. Not being a salesman here as I'd like to keep it, just saying I could measure it up any dimension you need so you could probably find a take-off dirt cheap. Most Harley guys ditch the stock seat and exhaust soon after buying, so the chances of finding one next to nothing are good.
 Mine looks just like this...

81 Honda CB750C - Current Project
67 BSA Spitfire MkIII - Next Up (Full Resto)
81 Honda GL1100 - Bob / CafeĀ“
80 Suzuki GS750L - Bratstyle
72 Honda CB450K5 - Basket Case
73 Honda CB350F Cafe' (Gone but not forgotten)

Don't wait for opportunity to knock... kick the door down and drag the old harlot in!

I love the look. Only thing I'd be scared of is the seat splitting as you ride, causing a crash. Looks like 2 slices of wood were glued together.
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

I meant that it looks like plywood, which the lumber company glues together. I don't think its from a single piece of tree.

If it is, then its a heck of a lot stronger. Otherwise, it might split due to the forces as-is.
