Yep, got me a parts bike

Happened to be searching around on craigs list and found a parts bike for sale.  Heading tomorrow to pick it up.  1979 CB750K for $400.  
No need to buy extra valve shims now, I have 16 to choose from.  Have issues with my forks?  No worries got a second set.  Spark unit goes out, got 2 extra right here!!

I dont need rims, exhaust, handle bars, front fender, front brake

Parts bike?!?! Does it/can it run? I'd ride the wheels off that sucka. I like it!

picked it up this am.  Even better than i thought in  some areas.  WORST thing of all, is this thing has  a lot of rust, but get this, engine only has 9K miles on it.  
Got it home and swapped key ingintion on it, no fire.  checked fuses front front to back, found a bad one   put new fuse in, and guess what vrroom!@!!

I have it all torn down to just engine.  new gauges read to 150, no more of this 85 crap.  All lights work.  So much to list on here that I can use on this bike

Now question is.  do I swap my current engine  that has well over 25K on it, to the new one?  Need to sit on that for awhile.  

Super happy with this purchase.  will have lots to sell off and lots to use

If it were me...
I'd swap out this running engine into your bike and still be able to ride while you go through the original engine.
 Swap some 900F cams in there, a little head work, maybe some weisco pistons and CR carbs... make a screamer out of the one your having the compression issues with. (if you still are)
 Then you can swap it all back or rebuild the parts bike and stick it in there... have some REAL fun and an empty wallet.

Yes I really scored on this one.  Just starting to clean up the shop and get prepared for the engine swap.  Probably take some time to clean up old parts and get them ready for sale.  hopefully I can know teh whole swap out in 2 weeks.  Wonder ho heavy this engine is.  I could pick up and put my cb 500T onthe bench doubt I can do that with this one

I could pick mine up off the ground and put it on my workbench, but it was a lot easier to do with a friend.

I believe that it weighs about 200 pounds dry, but it's the awkwardness of it that makes it a little tricky.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you are flexible/knowledgeable enough to be able to do heavy ass to calves squats with good form.  .

If you do it's pretty easy.

I'll say it... when they are all in one piece, these SOB's are too heavy for me!
 With the cylinders off for the floor to the bench was easy enough. But once assembled getting, it off the bench to the floor safely, I recuited the Son-in-Law for help.
