battery isn't charging
I have a 1982 cbk and the battery isn't charging. The batt is new and it holds a charge. someone told me to check the stator, I have a circuit tester. what do I need to do to isolate the cause of this problem?

Re: battery isn't charging
I am having the same issue. Did you figure it out? I got a new battery but i think it might be the rotor. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Sam

First step is to make sure about the charging.
With your voltmeter set to 0-20v measure the voltage across the battery while everything switched off. It should be between 12 -12.8v. (2.1v per cell)
Then with the engine running measure again and it should read approximately 14v - 16v. If there is no significant increase then you are not charging.
Check all wiring and connections from regulator.
There are more tests for the regulator and stator but I dont have these to hand at the moment.
