best place to take oil temperature

I am going to mount an oil temp gauge on my bike.Where is the best place to  put the sending unit? I'm sure that the factory location of where the oil switch is now will work fine, but I cant hide it if I put it there.I thought about tee-ing in with the oil pressure gauge I have, but it would be even more noticeable there and I doubt the oil circulates enough thru that line to give an accurate reading. Is there any other plugs that access the oil galleries in this motor,or should I just go with removing the oil switch and use that hole?

Also, where the oil switch goes in,is that 1/8" NPT? It looks like it,but cant really tell.Just want to get all my ducks in a row before I pull anything apart. Thanks

On my Integra, for my oil pressure I mounted it off the block with a T. I also have my oil feed for my turbo - which needs all sorts of oil - off that same T. In fact. the long 'leg' of the T where you'd think little pressure is, is where the line comes off for the turbo.

So it can't be hard for it to pressurize. It may take a few extra seconds for the oil to get up there, but its not really a bad set-up. If you want, I'll get you a picture of what I'm talking about. It's a tuner toys oil fitting.

Here's a generic image:

If it really IS the same thread pitch as our bikes (which is entirely possible, given they're both Hondas!) then this would be PERFECT I think. Ya, may look a bit worse, but it'll work!

Maybe.
Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?

That might just work. The temp gauge i have has a sensing bulb just like you would expect to see on a water temp gauge,so I need something about 2" deep to hold that bulb.

Piute, for the pressure gauge i used the port right above the the points cover.See where the gauge is? Except now the gauge is on the bars (impossible to monitor down by your ankles).I used this kit to run the line up to the gauge. Can't beat it for $20- http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Braided-Pressure-Gauge-Line-Kit,4147.html

I will double-check Thursday if I remember, but I think there's fittings on both sides, as well as in the back. On my setup in the car:

1 leg goes to the turbo.
1 leg goes to a mechanical pressure gauge
out the back is the stock oil pressure gauge sensor.

So you can probably make something work. This IS specially-made for the B-series block in the Integra/Honda scene, but again - it will work if it's the same fitting. It's made of steel, not brass like most of these. Be wary of what you get.

Sounds good. I'll just have to see if the threads match up. I am also concerned with clearance to the carbs.I know all this mess can get pretty tall, pretty fast. Thanks for the info man

hi there my dad put one on his bike on the right hand side sitting on the back directly down from where your knee would be in that area there is a spot to put it as its directly in the oil gallery and is practically the first place the oil goes he said. hope this helps
