brand spankin new to bikes...

bredman
What's up everyone. As my subject title says, I am brand new to owning a bike but have always been interested. I have an '80cb750f and it is a blast! Been riding for about 2 months now just about everyday and now I'm ready for some custom mods. Butt I have no idea where to start or how, I was wondering if someone could give me a lil info....heres what I want to do; I would love to stretch the front end, add a longer swing arm and swap the banana style seat and put on a single seat.. I have no idea where to start. Let me know what you guys think, I see that there are a lot of people on here that know alot...so ill check back often to see where I should begin...thanks....bredman

Some of those mods are drastic to the handeling of the bike.
For a beginner I do not advise raking the front end or extending the rear end.
Those two mods will change the handeling aspects of the bike. I would only advise this after a year or two of riding time.
The single seat would be making a cafe racer out of it and would be fine in my opinion. The seat for that can be custom made by you or you may be able to find one that someone no longer needs.

I do not have the expertise in modding the bike in some of the ways you are thinking about and do not want to discourage you either. Stretching the bike out to a longer wheel base will make turning in corners different than what you are presently use to. The speeds will also need to be slower since it will not turn as tight as it does now.

If you do do the mods I would like to see a pic of the finished bike... it sounds like it will be a fast looking bike.

I can expand a little on vern. Mostly what will need to be done.
First, longer forks are needed BUT if you want to keep the frame geometry correct, you will need to cut off the neck tube and reangle it to allow more rake then weld it back on.
For the swingarm, you can make a custom one. There was a person here who stretched his out. Check in the members bikes or build areas. You could also get one made by swingarms.com but it is expensive.
From there, the seat will need to be fabbed or you will need to mod a single seat from a harley.
do a search on konging. If you are already going to cut up the frame, you may as well do that and lower the seat while keeping the suspension.

Best I got for ya. woodsrider250 or polymer might be able to give you more info.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
