c77 cb750 will not run without choke

dumbar
I have a 77 cb with cleaned carbs that runs fine as long as i leave the choke on.....responds to the throttle, runs smooth.  As soon as you release the choke it bogs and stops running. This is without the breather box installed.  Is the breather box my problem?

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. I would check the rubber boots.

Well my 78 runs without the box. A little rich set though but it should still idle without the box. He could have an air leak and maybe set lean too.

By running rich, are you talking about re-jetting or adjusting the mixture screw?  I am assuming counterclockwise on the adjustment screw would make it richer, (probably a quarter turn)?
