cam chain tenshioner

I have an 81 custom need to adjust the cam chain tenshioner I have'nt done this before, has anyone done this and are there any problems to look out for.

You'll find a Factory Service Manual on the forum site.  Download it, and read through the first 2-3 chapters.  You'll find the cam chain adjustment process in there.

I guess my posting was not clear. I was looking for a drive chain tensioner to keep the chain from slapping the frame. I have to use an extra long chain since I have a hardtail. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks.

Ahh...that's a whole different chain altogether.  I'm afraid I have no experience with that.  Good luck.

I have not used anything like this either but I have seen them on custom v-twins. So they are available for chain use. Most likely you would need to custom a mount. Easiest with a hardtail of course but may be do-able mounted to the swing arm.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
