Racingrobby
Ok cleaned carbs out put in new jets and air cut off"s. Now it stil not  running good  idle will race to over at 3500rpm and slowly get to 1500 to 1200 rpms and just dies?? I think is might be the carb boots might be cracked ?? Sprayed carb cleaned on boots and one booat will make the bike race up. But i tried later then it was colder in the day and i got no racing> So maybe the cold made the small crack close up? And where can I get a good set of boots for not a crazy price>??  I just brought this bike only 2 mouths ago and it slowly robbing me . Oh does anyone know what the screw size or any info for the screw that holds the speedo to the cable ? the only one on by the wheel ? my cable is broke and I took out the screw out and can't find the damn thing..    Thanks         1980 cb 750f ss

Im in the same boat on the speedo screw. I have heard of people using "wintergreen" to restore their carb boots.Apparently you can get it at a place like CVS or Walgreens. Some sort of product you boil your boots in and it will cause them to soften up,which will seal better.Of course a crack is permanent. Those thing are pretty thick, though.I imagine it would be hard to get a crack really.

Ooh, wintergreen method looks promising....
Will have to try this assuming I can get the stupid things off (stuck on the intake side).

Use a heat gun, and warm them up. They should come right off. The screw is a 5X16mm
