cb750 oiltank 1972 **NEW QUESTION 12mars**

hwille
This post was updated on .
Hello,

Im thinking of to build a custom made oil tank to my cb750(k2) -72. I dont have the stock so I can look as it like a example. So is this right? or do I need some more lines from the oil tank? And as you can see I've have to examples at the "return" line, wich one is better you think?

Hope you understand what I mean.

Best regards
Wille

There's the one I mean... what is that? Does it have to go to the oil tank or can I do something else with it?

Thanks

That's the vent. It can be vented to the tank, or to outside air, just be sure to put a filter on it.

You need to add a drain for easy oil changes.

It does no good to put a filter on a crankcase vent. The filter just collects oil and moisture and becomes a dripping mess to get all over your clothing and motorcycle.
I mean think about it...Why would you filter oily fumes coming out of the engine?

Get a oil /air separator off of any honda product and it will fix the problem.

Your not filtering the fumes coming out of the engine. You are filtering the air going into the engine. Also as cheap as an inline gas filter (which is what I use) is, you can afford to change them pretty often.

I'm with Tools on the filter. Without a filter on the vent of the engine, oil tank or anything open to the atmosphere, you run the chance of sucking all sorts of road debris into the engine. Any and all openings to any engine should always be filtered.

hwille, that vent you pointed out in your picture,I have a clear vinyl line run between that and my stock oil tank vent. One time I over filled my bike with oil and I could watch the oil steadily circulate thru that clear line. That was a stock oil tank of course, but cheap insurance to keep oil inside the system vs on your rear tire IMO.
