Welcome to the forum. You should only need to replace the friction plates. But have you tried adjusting it?

yes I did, but I don't know if I screwed the adjustment screw in far enough. the manual sad to stop when I felt a little pressure, and then take it back out 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. how much is a little pressure?

Now that is a good question. Like "how much is enough?" However as much as I would like to go off on a philosophical tangent, I won't Turn the screw until, you feel resistance, then back it off 1/4 turn.

Is that a metric 1/4 turn, or an SAE 1/4 turn?

And yes, there is such a thing as a metric screwdriver:

120 cc orange juice, 30cc vodka.

Thank you thank you...I'm here all week.

DISCLAIMER: I may use capitols to emphasize important issues. I am not angry or condescending.

You cannot adjust a clutch.
You can only adjust WHEN it engages.
If the clutch plates are slipping and you continue to drive
it then the metal plates will get hot, turn blue ,warp and be ruined,
so it will cost almost twice as much to repair.
That can happen in just 3 days time.

When you take it apart lay the metal plates on a glass plate
or a machined surface to see if they are warped.
If they are then don't use them it will make the clutch chatter.
