cops Coil Over Plugs

bobbabouskie
anyone think of installing (cops) coil over plugs as a replacement or upgrade??? Should be doable, I would think you could split the wires to go to each of the plug coils to make it work.

A simpler, easier, and likely less expensive option to improve firing, would be to install NGK Iridium plugs in your bike.  I went that route, and the engine started as soon as the switch closed.  With the regular plugs in place, I had to grind the starter for 3-5 seconds, rest, then hit it again, to start it up.

A second option is to use GM automotive coils, which pump out much more energy than the OEM coils.  Don't know the details, but I remember folks stating that the coils could be found in junkyards, for around $15 each.  Cheers!

I doubt there would be room to fit them.

Iridium would be a good help. The gm coils can help too.

I think you could use the cops. Since you are already splitting the wire, you can easily make the wires longer to facilitate easier mounting. The main issue would be the coil resistance. If you still have your stock ignition, you would want to find 3 ohm coils.

The R1 coil over plugs are short and I believe they are 3 ohms as well, It would be kinda trick to do it and save some room as well. All 4 with the original harness can be had for @$60.

I hooked one up and it does work. resistance at 1.5 ohms through coil so will need to install a resistor to get back to 3+ ohms that stock coils had. Sweet!
