crankshaft oil seal

Has anyone had any luck installing the crankshaft oil seal behind the breaker plate without splitting the crankcase?

What year is your bike?  How bad is the oil leak?

'72 and I'm not sure if it will leak or not.  I just rebuilt it and forgot to install the seal when I had the crankcase split. Dum, I know.  If I can install it now, I'd like to.

I have never had one apart that far to know, but if the old seal is still in it. I would run it and wait to see if it leaks.
