electrical issue ?

enrique jose
hello i have a cb750k 81 i didint use it for about two weeks. i tried to start it but i get nothing at all so i charged the batteri i checked the fuses and still nothing. i know i had to wigle the ignition key a little bit to start it before all this. my next logical thought is to test electric curent from the batteri up o the handle bars. what do you guys think it might be maybe someone can save me the time :)

There is a main fuse mounted in the starter solenoids holder. It is a thin strip of metal attached to a screw on each end. This is often the cause when the whole electric system goes dead. I have replaced this fuse able link with a wire in blade type fuse holder on a few bikes. I also install a 20 amp blade type circuit breaker in the fuse holder. You can get these at any auto parts store.

I would also test your switch. If you had to wiggle it before, then it may have finally died on you. Some contact cleaner might help, but it's hard to say.

is this the starter selonoid holder? i opened alittle cover on it instead of finding a fuse i found a copper wire going from one screw to the other, near that i found a small relay but i cant find any blade type fuse.i tried using a test light but it wouldnt light up even when i put it on the batteri. how do i test the switch for the key? apologize in advance if im asking too many cuestions its my first bike and im not very good at electrical work.

Yes that is the starter solenoid. That copper wire is the fused link. It if is bad, you replace it with a wire in blade type fuse holder. You can test the fuse link with an Ohm meter, or by connecting one terminal to 12 volt + and using a test light on the other terminal. To test the starter switch, put a test light on the hot wire (one is hot and the other a is a ground) going to the solenoid and push the starter button. The test light should light up if it is working.

Theres a cover right underneath the key with the words "fuse something or other" on it, though I haven't pulled the cover on my bike. Maybe there's a fuse underneath there that caused his problem?

Most likely a wire is not matching up with the connector in the switch. The headlight turns on through the switch, so if the wrong slot in the connector is used, headlight won't work.
