fully disassembled cb750

shrugs
hi, im new here. so, my dads friend knows somebody trying to sell a '80-'82 Honda cb750, its been completely disassembled, and he doesn't have time to rebuild it, so im considering getting it as a project, not necessarily to ride it, because its abit big for a beginner. im going to look at it sometime in the next week, but im not really sure what to watch for in terms of missing/damaged parts,
and how hard would it be to rebuild it? I have most of the tools I will need, and plenty of time.
so any advice is welcome, and if I decide to buy it I will document the rebuild and post pictures.

Welcome to the site guy.
Early 80's, good chance it's DOHC,
Kinda rare, only made them for what, 3 years?

Myself, I'd put it back to original condition.
Some would build a cafe out of it.
Either way, it's a great bike.

2 big things folks seem to have issues with are the carbs
or the charging system.

Get us some pics.

he's asking 200. im more worried about what any parts it might be missing will cost me. I think i have most of the tools. my dad is pretty experienced with motercycles but hasn't ever worked on a cb750,so he isn't sure if its a good idea,

I would say for 200 bucks. If has a title get you will not lose on it You could part it out and get your money back.

I my self would jump in with both feet and do a build on it.

ooo If you buy it welcome to the addiction and forum.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

How far is it apart?
If the motor is intact, and isn't frozen up,
and there's a clear title, go for it.

If it's missing stuff, maybe go the cafe route,
build a bike in your eyes.

Maybe like one of these..........

IMO I would save your money for something that runs. There is a reason why the motor and the rest of it is in pieces!

Now if you already had one, this might be a good buy depending on price.

Would you find it fun to work on it for several months to get it up and running?  If that sounds like a great time then I would go for it.  If you aren't too interested, then don't do it.

Also, you'll likely have to spend some extra cash in parts to get it running, possibly as much as $2K, or as little as ~$400 depending on what is wrong with it.

If you want the lowest possible cost bike, get something that is running (and make sure you have enough left over to invest in new tires, proper riding gear and insurance).

Do not buy it.

Parts could be missing or broken .
they created the problem. Don't let it be your problem.

^^^Good point. But, $200 for a titled frame/parts bike is still a smoking deal IMO. Grabbing this one may give you a good head start either way you look at it.

But what if it is just left over unwanted parts from building another bike?

for $200, grab it and try to get shiny to buy the parts at an inflated price so you can pay for your Christmas
