Okay guys,
motor is on the stand and I have everything off to remove the head. Seems to be stuck and I don't
want to break any fins. Any thoughts

They're tough to get off. There's a few spot that are built up where you can carefully pry on them. Rubber mallets make it easy to bend fins. Tap, wiggle and lightly pry.

The last motor i just pulled apart was a tough SOB. It took me two days of pissing with it. I could lift it up to the threads of the head bolts but that was it, two of the studs that are open to the outside has crap built up in head. Used Thrust on them let sit over night but didnt help, tried brake cleaner, didnt help, finally sprayed carb cleaner down holes to loosen up oil/dirt tar in holes. Loosened i up enough to work back and forth on threads to get it off. Make sure to cover pistons and block so you dont drop anything in!

I usually put a 2X4 on a sturdy looking spot, and then give it a good whack with the appropriate persuader.
