had my cb for ten years, got it when i was 16 with a 1973 xl350 for $200, soo glad i never sold it, although i set it aside my garage at my lake house for the last 9 years in Wisconsin so its been out a while.
im 26 years old, married 13months now and just finished remodeling my house and need to stay busy... and dont work winters due to the idustry im in, the wife said i couldnt buy a bike... shortly therafter i remembered i already had one.
winter is comming and im getting started on the bike, this site has already helped me a lot with diagnosing potential problems so i just figured id join,
first off, although the wireing diagram is helpful im not sure what voltage i should be looking for on the ignition, im having intermitant outages and surprising light ups, i left the key at the lakehouse so i did hotwire it untill my parents go there next and try and find em along with the title, im wondering if im better off replacing the rectifier and regulator and dyna s ignition with a new one from Dennis Kirk Motorsports, had good luck with them in my teens when i raced quads, or of i can fix/bypass them to ensure the motor is functional, the ignition is rusted out and the contactors look shot.
i have good compression and hopefully the trans is solid, id like to get this thing to fire up and get though all the gears befor i move on to body breaks and frame.
thanks for reading
pics comming soon of my hopefull full restore and or cafe-ish 77 cb750fss
