honda 750 super sport cant get starter out

jez
need to get starter out its spinning and not catching

have removed cover and two bolts starter loose but does anything else need removing

help appreciated Jez

That should be it but the the bolts to put into the end of the starter to help lift it out.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

hey thanks reply well got it out once done once it easy starter cleaned spotless put back but still slips most of the time (slips less if battery is flat ) have bypassed solonoid and any earth problems looks like starter gear

shame cant find another starter to try

on the plus side it did start today and sounds good

When I took the engine on my 79 CB750 apart, we noticed the starter clutch/drive assembly was not securely bolted together.  This may have caused the spinning problem that would occasionally happen when cranking the starter.  I never got the chance to re-test it, as I sold the pieces parts to someone else.

I think there were 3 or 6 bolts that held the clutch to the starter ring.  I can't recall the exact parts count, but I'm sure there's a picture of it in the FSM.
